I’m so happy that you decided to join the September Prayer Initiative! Each day, I’ll send you a short prayer request with a verse from the Bible to meditate on.
Our goal this month is to grow in our ability to a specific type of prayer: intercession. I’m going to speak with you as I would a friend and challenge you a bit. I look forward to growing together!
To “intercede” is defined as: “the action of intervening on behalf of another.”
Read: Exodus 33:7-11. Friend… don’t be lazy. Go get a Bible, or download the Bible app. Previous generations gave their lives for us to have the Bible, whereas we have the privilege of just walking across the room and grabbing a Bible. 🙂
This morning, ask the Lord to grow in you in your ability to intercede for others this month.
Ask Him to give you specific people to pray for.
Ask Him to build in you a desire to pray for others.
Ask Him to use this month to build an army of intercessors for Echo Church.
You can pray something like this:
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
See you tomorrow!
Comment below with your prayers, reflections, and whatever is on your heart as we pray together today.

Wow, God woke me up at 4 A.M this morning to reveal to me to have a heavenly perspective on the people around me, not a human perspective. He had me read about his mercy and it brought me to tears.
People in the Bay Area are suffering and are crying out for Christ. Rather then be angry at people for “selfishly” not wearing face masks or “arrogantly” defying government orders, I need to see God sees their sin and wants to pour out his love, compassion, and mercy. Just as he did for me.
Please pray with me for my friend, Anise, who has just flown from out of the country to Washington State to be with her mom in her last days and hours on this earth. Pray for her mom’s salvation and for peace that passes understanding for Anise.
Please pray for our country as we prepare for another election and the hearts of so many as this country is gravely divided over politics and so many other things. As Christians let us remember that this is our temporary home and so many of the issues that plague us now will not follow us into eternity. But also that God has called us to be his hands and feet here on earth so that His will will be done here as it is in Heaven. Help us to show love to those who do not know Christ and or who simply think differently than we do. And help this country to face a dramatic shift for the better in the coming years: more equality, more solidarity, more standing against sexual trafficking and abuse of ever kind.
Today I’m reminded of how often my worries and stresses stem from a “me”-centered mindset. But when we remember that our lives are not our own, that we are here not to earn God’s love but are already loved and taken care of, that’s how we were designed to live. Lord, help us to focus our eyes on YOU and YOUR heart, not ourselves and what we want. Like a friend who talks to a friend not out of selfishness but out of genuine love, help us to have that heart for you and the people around us.
So very excited to see how our community will be changed by raising up a faithful team of intercessors! Humbled to be a part of this change?❤
We just learned, that our daughter Sarah got the job offer of her dreams.- she can work remote, in her DC home, for PBS, a senior position. She was just out here in CA for 7 weeks, to recover from the stressful scene in DC- and the Pacific, family and friends has really grounded her ( plus prayer requests we sent to Echo )..
Now.. we just hope our poor grandkids do not need to be so many hours online for “ school “.. what a year ( please pray for Public schools )
Ask for prayer for my nephew and family who are traveling to Norfolk VA. As he is assigned to start a new chapter serving in the US Navy. He will be separated from his family for the next 3yrs. Pray for him to strengthen him with faith & courage that his love for his family will stay strong & also for my niece may she stay strong to take care of the children. Also ask for prayer for the Echo groups fall semester may all that are in a group be blessed and as well as myself as I am leading a group All the leaders, campus pastors, staff blessing to all.
Lord, please speak to me and provide your wisdom for me to intercede on the behalf of my loved ones when they need you the most. I also ask that you continue to guide me during this challenging year. Just when I thought I couldn’t take anymore you handed me one more challenge this year. I’m focusing on the positives and what lies ahead for my life to serve you. I know that you have decided my path and will lead me to where you need me next. Amen, I praise the Lord for your mercy.
