SEPTEMBER 5

Day 5. Here we go!

Since it’s September 5, let’s look at Romans 9:5.

I know this is not a great way to read the Bible, but this is a verse I want to share with you. You may have to read it in context, but I want to emphasize one particular phrase.

Romans 9:5 (NLT): “Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”

Two things I want you to see:

Jesus was fully human like us, and He was fully God (not like us). We are made in the image of God, but we are not little gods like some religions teach.

He is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

Let’s take a few moments today to let this truth settle into our hearts. Right now, Jesus is crowned with glory in heaven. He is seated on a throne. High and lifted up and worthy of praise that goes on and on and on and on!

I want to ask you to take a moment to pull up the song “What A Beautiful Name” by Hillsong Worship. As you pray today, go ahead and listen to the words of this song while you pray.

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with praise for Jesus, and today, I want to encourage you to pray a prayer of humble surrender before King Jesus. He is the ruler over everything, but He is not going to force Himself on you. He is a gentleman and is waiting for you to pass over the steering wheel today (or remote control)…

You can pray something like this:

“Jesus, I recognize the majesty and beauty of your name. You have no rival. You have no equal. There is no one like you. I praise you for faithfulness. As all of heaven bows before you I choose surrender today. Help me walk in obedience to your commands. Help the people of Echo Church to grow in surrender. Help us give you the glory you deserve and live in such a way that you are in first place.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Have a great day!

Love,

Pastor Andy
