Grow your prayer life through community: echo.church/prayergroups

SEPTEMBER 6

Happy Sunday!

Sunday is my favorite day of the week. Today is the day where our people will gather (digitally for now) and hear the Word of God, worship Jesus, and be challenged to take next steps. In addition, people who are far from God will hop on to the service. It’s going to be a great day!

I’m going to share with you a prayer that I pray most Sunday mornings. It’s from the Lord’s prayer, and it’s pretty simple. To be honest, this is a prayer I pray most mornings… but I pray it differently on Sundays.

It comes from Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount. It’s actually how Jesus taught us to pray.

In Matthew 6:9-10, Jesus said:

“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Jesus told us to pray for His kingdom to come. It’s good to note that He told us to start with Father in heaven may your name be kept holy. We are friends of God, but we are also servants. He is in charge, and it’s His will we want to be done on earth.

I like to start this prayer by recognizing God’s place and mine. I’m praying relationally as to a Father and humbly to my God. Today I want to encourage you to pray His kingdom down. Pray for Him to move in our services at Echo. Pray that He would open people’s eyes. Pray that the Holy Spirit would touch the lost and stir in the hearts of His people in a powerful way. Pray that He wakes people up eager to join us for church today!

You can pray something like this:

Father, I humbly bow before you today. You are in charge. Help me to want what you want. I surrender my ways to you. I give my life to you. I pray that your kingdom would come in me. I pray that your kingdom would come in our church. I pray that you would bless the service today. Change people’s lives. Help people respond to you Holy Spirit. Make today a day where people take steps of obedience.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Thanks for praying today! I’m proud of you for your faithfulness in this journey.

Much love to you!

Pastor Andy
